Artists

Antz  / Hans De Man: Hans wears many masks: robotics engineer, Foton founder, concert & party promotor, multimedia curator, installation artist and dj. As dj Antz he is one of the pioneers within the belgian breakcore-scene. Like no other he links like extreme 'core'-madness to a booty-attitude: ragga-, jungle-, break-, speed- and deathcore are mixed into a solid whole, smile included. In his "Go Psycho"-mixes electronics are replaced by a deranged combination of 50's-60's r'n'r, punky wreck'n'roll and psychobilly.

Bent Object: collaborative project of Foton founder Peter Van Hoesen and New-Zealand contemporary dancer/singer Susanne Bentley. Detailed information on this unique project can be found at www.foton.be/bentobject.

Max Tilgenkamp: after finishing his studies in graphics and the art of comics, Max Tilgenkamp started working as a graphical artist and illustrator, both in the commercial world and in the Brussels' underground scene. He created a number of independent comics and was a member of many graphical collectives, before joining Foton in 2005. His preferred themes are storytelling and the absurd, using a style that's constantly switching between "minimal" and "maximal". Website: www.stripmax.be

Object: Peter Van Hoesen's solo project. Object's sound consist of cristalclear high frequencies and deep subbass waves, infused with snippets of mutated techno, hip-hop and r'n'b. File under hybrid machine music. Check out 'Release the Object' for a taste of Object.

Vanno: Peter van Hoesen's long standing DJ alter ego, active for over ten years and known to cultivate a healthy obsession with subbass and freaky rhythms - be it techno, dubstep, electro or breakbeat. Resident and organizer of the famous Essential parties, resident at the Bass Boogie nights at Fuse and the man behind the Capital Beats radio show on FM Brussels. His music has been released on Foton, Lan Muzic, Backroom and Sound of Habib. If ever someone's going to play a technoelectropunkbreakwavestepbass DJ set, it'll be Vanno. Website: www.t2x.be

Antonin De Bemels: video and sound artist. Interested in experimental electronic music as well as contemporary dance and video art, his personal approach of videography is based on the representation of body movements and the dynamic relationship between sounds and images. He has made a dozen of short videofilms and also creates soundtracks and visuals for dance and theatre pieces. More info on http://periactes.be/antonindb/

Casual Club: newskool hardcore straight from the Foton Factory. Casual Club accelerates in no time from 150 to 250 bpm - and that's only the start. Subbassgabbercore, only for the headstrong.

Lowdjo: imposes his octopus-like musical tastes on the turntables, making him one of the most eclectic dj's in Belgium. Next to electronics like jungle, breakcore, elektro, techno, hardcore, dubstep, braindance, grime and many other (mutant) genres, he also has a big collection of (free)jazz, postrock, ambient, ragga, psychedelica, noise, drones, psychfolk, postpunk, free rock and even balkan-tunes. Olivier Meunier: multimedia artist, working with video and realtime 3D. He also develops spatial interactive environments. Olivier is currently part of L'écurie art group, was initiator of the Cimatics festival in 2003 and has performed under the Genoflex and olm.e monnikers. He's also involved in the development of the WOAW multiview system.

The ghost in the apartment: a 100% improvisation between Peter Van Hoesen (aka Object/Vanno), Marc Roesems (aka Individual) and Jo Vernaillen (aka Lowdjo), combining turntables and samplers to build a full-frequency wall of sound.

Audioclast: now defunct project, consisting of Hans De Man (Antz) and Marc Roesems (Silk Saw). They used to join forces for a mixed live and dj-performance, creating a tsunami of sound called terrorcore.

RM: inactive experimental ambient project of Jeroen Baekelandt and Peter Van Hoesen. RM released '1025' on Foton.
