Object is Peter Van Hoesen's long standing experimental alter ego - a parallel identity allowing him to explore a more radical approach to
composition and sound design. Previous Object releases through Foton include Release the object
and Remote Review EP. Wary Observer's length sits halfway between an EP and a full album. The main focus is on shifting rhythmic patterns, combined with a refined sense of sound design. Object's quest is clear: how far can one stretch and bend the relationship between different percussive elements and patterns? Most tracks are based on rapidly evolving rhythms, combining sparse melodies with miniature intervals and erratically evolving broken beats, hinting at Van Hoesen's DJ work under his Vanno moniker. Tematre stands out as the exception - a nine-minute, nightmarish sonic trip. Noise bursts implode into dark silence, occasionally injected with a dose of live bass guitar, routed through various hard- and software devices to obtain a fragile, corrosive quality. Wary Observer EP presents Foton at its best: idiosyncratic electronic music, requiring the listener's full attention. Solid sound system or headphones recommended. This Foton release is available in high resolution MP3 (312 kbps) and FLAC formats. Track titles:
